Ready to "Map"
Each antenna site include latitude and longitude in decimal degrees, all projected to NAD83. While street addresses are generally included and theoretically be used to geocode a location, the latitude and longitude provide definitive siting location data.
The Tower Maps database is built from site owner information. For more than 15 years we have tracked over 600 cell tower companies.
We generally disregard the FCC Antenna Structure Registration database as this is incomplete and often erroneous. The FCC does not include any buildings.
Copyrighted Data Sources
Several of the larger tower companies apply "copyright" restrictions. For several years we have sought permission to use the data, but sometimes we are not successful and observe the copyright of the tower companies and exclude these data from Tower Maps.
Site Owner Information
Contact information include the company name, the sales agent, their telephone, email and the company web site.
The site information typically include the tower (or building) height, referred to as the AGL (Above Ground Level). Other fields include date constructed, site availability, zoning, construction details, FCC and FAA registration numbers (if available)
Sorry, but the wireless carriers keep the tenant information as confidential. We get lots of questions about this.
Site Type Classification
While data is consolidated from several hundred site owners, each record is categorized into classes. This provides a convenient means to identify and classify the data.
Each record is categorized in to one of 8 classes.
